What got you into the Travel Industry and how long have you been an Advisor?
Well, Travel has always been my passion, because I truly believe it makes you a better person. While working at Houston Country Club, I was introduced to the travel business part-time which surprisingly had great success, and a Travel Agent FAM trip to Cancun completely changed my life; it planted a seed in my heart that kept growing. In 1993, I followed my heart, left engineering behind, and opened my own agency. Now, 32 years later, I’m grateful every day to be living my dream and helping others create unforgettable memories through travel. 🌎❤️ I truly believe that taking my family on multiple vacations each year—starting when they were just 3 months old—helped create an incredible bond between us. All in all, I have been in this industry for 35 years!!
What made you first realize the value that a Travel Advisor brings to a consumer’s travel experience?
I first realized the value I bring as a Travel Advisor when I saw how much my own personal travel experiences could guide and enhance my clients’ vacations. For me, it’s not just about booking a trip—it’s about being a caretaker of their hard-earned money and transforming it into unforgettable memories. That’s the true joy of what I do!
What does being a Travel Advisor mean to you?
Being a Travel Advisor means so much more than just planning trips, it’s about being a trusted guide, a caretaker of my clients’ dreams, and someone who helps turn their hard-earned money into lifelong memories. It’s a privilege to share my passion for travel while creating experiences that truly enrich people’s lives. 🌎 To me, it’s more than making money, it’s a truly a lifestyle!
What’s your favorite type of trip to plan for a client?
Well, it’s hard to pick. I love planning trips that create unforgettable memories; family adventures, romantic escapes, or bucket-list experiences, all tailored to each client’s dreams. I do vacations with care!
Where is your favorite place to travel?
It’s hard to pick just one, but I have a special love for tropical paradises; the warm beaches, vibrant cultures, and relaxing vibes always recharge my soul. Every trip there feels like coming home while discovering something new! People truly makes the difference!
Who is your favorite Travel Supplier to work with?
I started out with Funjet Vacations back in 1989 which now is Hyatt owned Apple Leisure Group! I have friends there over 3 decades!
What’s some advice that you would give to your fellow Advisors to keep them motivated when they get frustrated by their day-to-day?
My advice to fellow travel advisors is to always remember why you started, your passion for travel and helping others create unforgettable memories. When the day-to-day frustrations come, focus on the joy you bring to your clients and the incredible experiences you make possible. Every challenge is just part of building a career you love, and the rewards; seeing clients’ happiness and knowing you’ve made their dreams come true—are worth it! You are becoming part of their memories!
How has participating in TravelSMG events helped you as an Advisor?
Participating in TravelSMG events has been invaluable for me as a Travel Advisor. It’s given me the opportunity to learn about the latest travel trends, connect with suppliers and fellow advisors which I may not come across, and gain firsthand experiences that I can share with my family/friends, agents and clients. These events inspire me, broaden my knowledge, and ultimately help me create even more memorable and personalized travel experiences for everyone!
